Burson-Marsteller Honored with Four Big Apple Awards

U.S. CEO Mike Fernandez Accepts Philip Dorf Award for Mentorship

NEW YORK, June 13, 2017 – Burson-Marsteller, a leading global strategic communications and public relations firm, today announced it won four awards at the New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA-NY) 2017 Big Apple Awards. The awards honor outstanding public relations campaigns and projects developed or implemented in and around New York City. The awards program also honored Elias Buchwald, former Vice Chairman, Burson-Marsteller and former President of PRSA-NY, as the founder of the Big Apple Awards 29 years ago. The awards were announced at a ceremony in New York City.

Burson-Marsteller’s honors include:

  • A Big Apple “Best of” Award for Best Use of Research, Measurement and Evaluation for “Research, Relationships and Resources for Small Businesses” with Bank of America
  • A Big Apple Award in the Marketing, Business-to-Business, Professional and/or Financial Services category – “Research, Relationships and Resources for Small Businesses” with Bank of America
  • A Big Apple Award in the Reputation and Brand Management, Business category – “Rewriting the Narrative – Elevating Bank of America’s Leadership Through Exploration of Modern Homebuying Trends” with Bank of America
  • A Big Apple “Spotlight” Award for Diversity and Inclusion for “Together Being More”

Mike Fernandez, U.S. CEO, Burson-Marsteller, was also honored with the Philip Dorf Award for individuals who lead, guide and selflessly counsel and stimulate the careers of PR professionals.  Presented annually since its creation in 1995, the award is sponsored by the Dorf family in memory of Philip Dorf who was an inspiration and mentor to many young public relations practitioners.
